About the artist
AMBER VUILLEUMIER
Hi all!
My name is Amber and I grew up and continue to reside on the CT shoreline where my love for art started when I was very small. I was raised by two very artistic parents - a mother who loved to work with fine art and crafts and a father who created many 3D projects with wood and metal materials. I was raised in a family that encouraged art, with my 2 sisters and I spending countless afternoons playing with chalk and other crafts; and a community that welcomed it, completing multiple local projects in my town including a mural for a memory care home and teaching classes at the town library.
I decided that I could not escape my love for art and continued to pursue it in college, with a little twist haha. I graduated from Endicott College where I completed my Bachelor’s in Interior Design (2020) and my Master’s in Interior Architecture (2021). Currently, I balance my numerous fine art passions through my small business which I created in 2020 to earn some extra income during Covid and as I was studying for my master’s.
I absolutely adore animals, anything soft and fuzzy; hence where my pet portraits started. Now, you can find me painting with my cat, Desert (right). His brother, Canyon (left), kept me company as I was starting my business, when I was still using a mismatched chair and ottoman with cardboard boxes flipped upside down on stools as my table. Desert keeps his memory alive by coming to check on me and making sure I stay on schedule. He is quite a good boss.

I will be painting with my cat :)

My work
I identify as a hyper-realist painter and my work primarily comes from commissions, with my oil portraits of dogs, cats, and horses being my most popular work. I am an avid equestrian, so I particularly enjoy capturing horses’ essence through my portraits. My dream commission is to create large scale equine portraits for clients, pieces like “Little Big Man” which you can view in my Equine Gallery. I love portraying a horse’s elegance and focusing on their muscles and bone structure, but the power is in their eyes. I enjoy working on extreme detail, so animal’s eyes are my favorite part and what I believe are the most important part of a portrait. The same applies for dogs and animals. You can see their character in their eyes.
In addition to animal portraiture, I have completed commissions of people in both wedding and individual settings. I want to dive more into the engagement and wedding industry because I want to be a part of helping people remember their wonderful day! Portraits have become my go-to gift for weddings I have attended!
I look forward to expanding my repertoire to include more landscape paintings. There is exceptional detail in landscapes with layered complexity that I want to spend more time practicing. I have been experimenting with different landscapes from beaches to mountains, some prints available in my shop :)
